Old Websites Were Much Better
On yesterday's relaxing Saturday evening, I played some jazz and strolled through the interwebs. I ended up at a lot of webrings I didn't even know existed, I browsed the websites and that got me thinking:
Old Websites Were Much Better.
Even though I wasn't around (you could say) back in the Web 1.0 days, you can still find such websites nowadays, and I always admire that people still make these types of websites.
These days, websites are filled with ads, unnavigable interfaces and are just a shitty experience overall. The web also feels much more disconnected than ever. Back in the day all webrings and websites were mostly interconnected, which was how search engines worked. Websites were ranked by how much they were linked to, not by how much people paid.
You could say that the web was cozier back then. That's why I think this website is worth keeping up. It's truly a small part of the interwebs, but it shows that there is still that small community of webizens around and that the internet has not been fully consumed by Big Tech corporations and other bullshit the media has been feeding us.
So if you ever think of making a website yourself, do it. We need a big community to make the web cozy again.
