On Starting High School

On September 9th, I started high school.
It's unreal that 8 years of elementary and middle school passed in such a short time. But as they say, time flies when you are having fun.

I'm attending the Technical School Ruder Boskovic in Zagreb, the course (there's no better word) is for a computer technician. For now, I think I made the right choice.

Tons of students here would rather go to gymnasiums because their parents said that it's better than a vocational school. While I do agree with that to some extent, I feel like if you know what you want to do in life. It relates to programming, technology, or anything else in the IT field so you should go to a school that focuses on that and where you learn practical stuff from the field and profession.

We have many classes in which we learn more about algorithms, excel functions, the basics of electrical engineering, and a ton more coming in 2nd grade. You learn none of that in a gymnasium, which prepares you more for everything so that if you ever decide that something else is your passion, you can go to almost every university.

As for my high school, it prepares you for the matura (the entrance exam for university) very well and 50% of students in the biggest technical university in Croatia, FER, went to high school non-other than to Ruder. And if not FER, you can go to any technical university in any EU country you'd like.

I'm just getting to know the people in my class and I still can't believe I'm already here.
And as they say, high school is the golden years of your life. And I truly hope it will be for me.
